| Resume - Employer Information | I am currently working at Beijing No.4 High School International Campus as Visual Art teacher & AP Studio Art teacher (teaching both Middle School and High School students) since 2016. I am very interested in the position of Visual Art teacher (taught in Chinese / English) at your school. Previous to this current work experience, I was living in Melbourne, Australia for 9 years. I finished my Master`s Degree in Fine Art at RMIT University in Australia, and my bachelor major was interior design. I obtained honours. I have one year tutoring experience for undergraduate interior design students at RMIT University. This also involved an internship and volunteer experience with local Australian contemporary artists. During the time I have worked at Beijing No. 4 High School, I designed course curriculums; wrote the schedule for exams; introduced principles in art and design, taught students historical background, notion of aesthetic, helped to improve their drawing skills, sketching, hand crafting (physical model making), software Photography, InDesign and Stop Motion Animation among other things. I have two years experience in teaching the AP (Advanced Placement) Studio Art course which includes Drawing portfolio, 2D design portfolio and 3D design portfolio and have achieved great results. I studied the IBDP Visual Art course in 2017 and I am moving on to the Advanced Level Visual Art. I have assisted students in completing their art portfolios and have written recommendation letters to art schools. Beyond my teaching, I also help the school to design the student handbook, promotion posters, and student certificates. I successively organised the Performance Week 2016 with colleagues from the art department and my students. It went well and demonstrated all my students’ art abilities to the public which makes me rethink the power of trusting and encouragement that can bring so much energy to the pupils. This ultimately leads to the students displaying their best talents and their huge possibilities and potential to this world. My Philosophy of Education I am a passionate visual art teacher with an Australian background. I understand the advantages and differences in western and eastern education and my goal is to develop an educational system that provides my students with fun and also the ability to learn more artistic knowledge through my class. The diversity between the Chinese overseas student and western countries child is not only the cultural difference but also the values, thinking habits and viewpoints. The past 9 years of life in Australia and almost two years teaching experience in Beijing No.4 High School International Campus makes me think how I can better deliver my knowledge to my students and inspire them in their future life. I believe a great teacher is a magician who can show their students the ‘vision’ during their studies. In addition, I took a lot of professional development courses in my spare time. I did this training to share and communicate with other teachers around the world, gaining more art knowledge; The other reason is to inspire myself, so each semester I will show my students some new exciting material. I am enjoying my career and I hope I can share my experiences with your students and help them to investigate the notion of art and design in both eastern and western culture. |
